Wearable Tales
Tunga
One sunny morning, Tunga was born. The elephants were in an uproar
because there was a new baby joining the herd.
Tanga, his mother, showed him off proudly,
and the jungle filled with roars of laughter. Tunga thought they were laughing with joy—
he never imagined they were laughing at his long trunk.
The baby elephants also laughed, imagining that he would hardly be able to walk with such a long trunk.
Everyone was surprised
when Tunga nimbly stood up,
hugging everyone with his long trunk.
He then ran into the forest,
picking fresh fruits and leaves.
With his long trunk, he easily pulled them down.
The other baby elephants stared at him in awe, as they patiently waited
for their moms to give them a bite to eat.
They looked at Tunga sadly for having made fun of him.
Tunga smiled happily, and leaving what had happened in the past,
he picked fresh fruits and leaves
for each of his siblings.
